- Cultural Touring
Meaningful learning and once-in-a-lifetime cultural touring come together in November 2008 when the Kansas State Univerity Master of Agribusiness program embarks on its first-ever expedition to Southeast Asia. Join Dr. Allen Featherstone, your fellow students and program alumni as we explore rice farming, biofuel plants, palm plantations, wet markets, some of the world’s busiest shipping ports and the financial hubs of Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Bangkok. Along the way, we’ll meet with representatives from international agribusiness consortiums like Malaysia’s Charoen Pokphand (CP) and Cargill, and discuss geopolitical and economic trends with leaders from local industry to the United Nations and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This two-week adventure is also packed with an overnight stay on a junk on Vietnam’s Halong Bay, and some of Asia’s premier sights, such as Bangkok’s Grand Palace, Malaysia’s tropical forest and the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
